Path from terminal 2C to 2E.
Arrived nice and early for my flight to Dubai with Emirates, on the monitor I could not see my flight, so at information I inquired as to where the check in lines are, response was, flight cancelled, what…!!! So they told me to go to the Emirates counter, as I approach the counter I see the chaos at all the check in lines. I head to the counter , where there are about 6 people in front of me, but behind the counter there are only 2 people, one constantly on the phone and the second one, who after 15 minutes did not lift her eyes of the computer screen. No one informs us as to what is going on, it’s only when I ask some people around me who seemed to have been here a bit longer, that I find out that all flights have been cancelled, emirates staff are going backwards and forwards , so I stop one of them to get a clearer picture as to what is going on, this makes her realize that a lot of us don’t know, so she address the crowd that are in ear shot, that we need to stay in the que we are in ( there are 6 ques at the check in counter and the one I’m in at the Emirates counter ) The airline will help them as best as they can to get us to our final destination even if it means putting us with a different carrier, and if need be put us up in a hotel at the airport hotels if there is no chance of getting a flight today.damn, I just over heard then of the people in front of me that they might have to wait 2 days at a hotel before then can get a flight. Shit no I think, Jacs is going to be disappointed , and hope internet is included at the hotel. Still, I need to que and find out what is going on, there are now only 4 people in front of me, but it is going painstakingly slow, like 2 hours slow, it has been a while since I stood in the same spot, motionless for more than 30 minutes, this goes on for 2 hours …aaaaarrrgggh.
Finally, my turn….she can still get me on an 11pm flight tonight with air france to hong kong, which arrives at 6pm there, and then I could get an 7pm flight to Sydney with Cathay Pacific, damn, that sounds perfect, as I will still get there at the same time as the original schedule with Emirates. so ofcourse I took it
On my way to Air France check in counter I’m admiring the big entrance hall, looks like concrete wall, with the imprints from the wooden form work, but it isn’t concrete, it is actually the wood, rough bits of wood, as in not sanded smooth, so it gives it that interesting texture for such a big hall
